The Fairmont and Night Lighting

Updated: Sep 11, 2021

Hey there. Welcome back to my dev blog. Thank you for checking back here to see the latest developments in this mod. Wanted to mention something before I continue, that this is my first Blender project ever, apart from the classic donut tutorial that many people use, however, I didn't even get all the way through that tutorial :), so I'm quite new to Blender, and if you spot anything that looks off, please let me know through messages on flightsim.to, as I am very open to feedback and I want to make this the best project I can. Anyways, let's get straight in to this week's update. This week, I was quite busy, however, I made some time to work on one of the biggest missing things from all the screenshots: The Fairmont Hotel. With 386 rooms, this hotel is an absolute masterpiece. I've finished modelling the airside part of the hotel, and I will hopefully finish the other side soon. I have also added taxiway lighting for about half the airport in this week alone, and I have added lighting on the whole apron, which makes the airport feel much more alive at night! And finally, what about testing? I will need testers to figure out how this mod performs. If you look at the roadmap, v0.3 is meant to be complete by the end of this month. This will be released in a closed alpha to a specific group of people, and will not be open to signups unfortunately, as I only want to allow signups once the majority of the terminal is fully textured. However, in v0.4, the airport will most likely release in closed alpha at launch, before transitioning into an open alpha to gather more feedback. In open alpha, the mod will be posted on flightsim.to, however, please do keep in mind the mod is not complete and you may encounter issues in this stage. I hope to get this version out by October or November.

Also, I have begun work on the brand new Pier D expansion for ProjectYVR. Only problem is that since it's very new, I have limited data on what the side of the terminal looks like. I managed to find some references for the front side, but the side facing Pier C, I currently have very limited data for. Here is what Pier D looks like so far:

Please note that I have not modelled an interior yet, although it is planned, as I have sufficient data to make a basic interior. Also, being able to upscale/run your game at 4K (through the render scaling option in Graphics options) is recommended to see the full detail in this mod.

Again, thank you for joining me on this journey, and I can't wait to see what this project becomes! Especially when more textures are added, since only a few parts are textured so far :)
