Hello everyone! Firstly, I would like to thank everyoen for all the suport Project YVR has recieved over the past week! I am happy that you are all enjoying the airport.
However, as an early aceess product, ensuring that the airport reaches a very high standard through community feedback is a top priority.
Today, Project YVR has been updated to v0.5.2 with many fixes to key parts of the airport, as well as some new features.
Fixes include flickering and glass fixes for parts of Pier D and C, gate positioning, aircraft spawn fixes, and custom ILS systems added for all runways (except 31, which doesn't have one in real life).
New features include interior modelling for gates C32-C38 and D62-D67. The interior is still in a very early stage, however, it will recieve many improvements in future updates.
The following screenshots are from Pier D:
As you can see, many elements on the signs and walls are still missing, as well as many textures. However, currently, all benches, gates, and signs are placed accurately, which looks much better than before when looking in from the outside. The support beams have also been reshaped and resized to look more accurate, and line up correctly with the skylights in the terminal.
The following screenshots are from Pier C:
This part of the terminal is at ground level, which is the main reason why I chose to model this first. Lots of time was spent making sure this terminal looks accurate. You may also notice higher quality textures on the benches here. Depending on performance, these might stay at the same resolution, or be changed to the downscaled ones that are used in Pier D.
In the future, all piers will have interior modelling, over the span of the next several months. I cannot give an ETA on when they will be done, but I am currently working very hard to complete Pier D and E (the international and US piers), since they have the most glass, and are used by international flights, which will be happening during the VATSIM event on April 2nd.
No other buildings have been modelled yet (apart from the Air Canada hangar on the north side of the airport and the airside ops building), however, once Pier D and E are modelled fully, I will start to shift focus away from the interior and take a more balanced approach, releasing new buildings and terminal modelling in future updates.
